What does it mean to be disabled?

This simple question has a lot of answers. Being "disabled" means different things to Social Security, your neighbor, your insurance company, the Americans with Disability Acts, and so on!

Each agency or set of rules/laws has its own definition of disability. You need to understand which definition you are working with, especially when you are applying for benefits.

We are here to help - because this is just one of many issues you face when you become disabled.
